Sophie the Giraffe was born in Paris in 1961 and has become one of the world’s most famous teething toys. Created by Monsieur Rampeau who was an expert in transforming sap from the hevea tree using a rotational moulding of rubber. He used the idea as a toy making concept, and came up with the idea of a giraffe names Sophie.
Each Sophie takes several months to make and to this day are all painted by hand using non toxic paint suitable for babies. Sophie is designed in such a way that it is easy for babies to hold and help aid during their teething stages.
